One blogger to another

Posted a comment on David Nice's blog I'll think of something later, and not only got a response but a very nice note along the lines that I should write more here. Alas, the real world of work impinges, and also - for all my singing the advantages of blogging over going to messageboards - it's been quite lonely here, and often I lack motivation to write here unless I generate it myself. Plus I've been too shy to invite people over to see my handiwork (such as it is) here. To be honest, partly this is because I don't want people to judge the writing here in the light that it's by me; I want them to judge the writing on its own merits, rather as they would with a book they happened to pick up from the library (remember those places?). So it's a tough fire to get going...
